(a) Date notice given to the Minister

May 13, 2026

(b) Make, model and model year

Van Hool C2045 (1999–2013), T2145 (2004–2013), and related Van Hool models (through 2022)

(c) Company recall number

SB2540

(d) Transport Canada recall number

2026-248 (NHTSA 26V191 / RCAK-26V191-5904)

(e) Description of the non-compliance, its cause and location

The lower curb-view window of the front entrance door may be fitted with glazing material that does not meet the performance and location requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) No. 205, “Glazing Materials.” The non-compliant glazing in this location is the cause of the non-conformity.

(f) Safety risk to persons

The non-compliance may reduce the visibility characteristics of the lower curb-view window area, which could increase the risk of a crash.

(g) This non-compliance could cause a crash, which may result in property damage, personal injury, or death.

(i) Corrective measures and how they are implemented

A permanent, non-transparent vinyl covering is installed over the lower curb-view window, eliminating the non-compliant glazing exposure and bringing the vehicle into compliance with CMVSS No. 205. ABC Bus will perform the installation at no charge at any authorized ABC service location, or will ship the remedy materials directly to the owner at no charge for self-installation. The procedure takes approximately 15–30 minutes.

(j) Precautions until the remedy is completed

Operators should remain attentive to the reduced visibility in the lower curb-view window area and exercise added caution near curbs, pedestrians, and cyclists until the corrective measure is installed.

(k) Availability of parts and facilities

The parts and facilities needed to complete the remedy are available now, at no charge to the owner.
